Alting celebrates two Tippecanoe County businesses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 20, 2026) — State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) is celebrating two Tippecanoe County businesses that were presented with the Governor's Half Century Award Monday, Aug. 17.

The Market Square Lanes bowling alley has operated in Lafayette since 1961 and has brought family-friendly entertainment to the Lafayette area for generations.

Brand Electric is a third-generation, family-owned business that has operated in Lafayette since 1973 and provides electrical services for residential and commercial customers.

"As someone who has owned and operated my own small businesses, I am familiar with the entrepreneurial spirit that exists in the families that have operated Market Square Lanes and Brand Electric over the decades," Alting said. "Congratulations to both these businesses on over a half century of operations and thank you for the services and jobs you provide to Tippecanoe County."

The Governor's Half Century Award is presented in conjunction with the Governor's Century Award. Both are awarded to businesses that have operated for more than 50 or 100 consecutive years in Indiana.

Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
